HER NAME

They called her the jewel of the land, and there weren’t many lands back then. There were the big, and the smaller islands; and every businessman that was ever worth any any name knew to own a portion of those. After all, this was the world of ships, ports, and small towns.

The particular town that Desponia Gladdings lived in was named, Hershing. It was an unremarkable place that resided on the crescent entry of unexplored land, most of which belonged to the Gladdings of days past.

As far as the oldest living person in Hershing remembered, the Gladdings had been around for two centuries old, and anything that was unknown: land, people, stories - were known to belong...
