CHAPTER ONE
WILD WILD
The campfire flickered into the glazed iris of a young man. He wore an Indigo cloak with yellow stars along it, and sat in front of the flames with an earnest expression on his face. The sunset brought violet skies above and beaming rays between the forest branches.
“It’s been a pleasure meeting all of you,” he stood up. “This is as far as I go.”
Several sleeping bags rustled just beyond the campfire’s glow. A redhaired woman sat up to witness the young man leaving.
“That’s how you plan to say goodbye?”
“I don’t usually get the chance, it’s new for me,” he replied.
“Will we see you again?” she tilted her head “Or is this a forever goodbye?”
“Honestly ⸺ I don’t know.”
The young man walked into the brush and disappeared into the Deepgreen. The campfire faded behind him into the night, and he walked until all that surrounded him were towering trees, the further into the Deepgreen he went, the slower his steps became.
“There it is.”
The young man stepped out of the brush, and into a clearing. Without giving it a glance, he walked by a sign that read “Heart Of The Deepgreen”. There he stood before a crudely made ladder. Wooden planks which led up to a treehouse. The air felt dense with moisture, and after a deep yawn, he could hear Direwolves howling at the moon in the distance.
“I’m so tired.”
After climbing the crude planks, the young man unwrapped his cloak, revealing it to be a blanket, and plopped onto a small cot in the middle of the treehouse, falling asleep under the blanket’s yellow stars.

The warm sunlight shone through the misshapen treehouse window and onto the young man’s face. He tossed and turned, but couldn’t escape its radiance. Suddenly, the sound of wind chimes could be heard, but only for a moment. A small green creature flew through the window, and a gust of wind immediately followed it.
“Colson. Colson. Colson,” it shrieked.
“Huh, what?”
Colson sat up with the blanket still covering half of his body, scratching his head and wiping the crust from his eyes.
“What’s going on, Sap?”
